My in-car training is for those who are under 21 years of age and have completed an Ohio approved online driver education course.
Even if a teen takes their in-car training elsewhere, I recommend taking advantage of the training material found on this website.
Since there is so much to understand involving the documents, proper steps of training, guidelines and recommendations, I strongly recommend both the parent(s) and teen take the time to thoroughly review all the material outlined on this website.
My Background
Driving instructor for driver ed. schools for 16 years.
Certified Training Manager
Managed 4 driving schools
State Trooper for 27 years
Driving instructor at the Highway Patrol Academy
Driving instructor for Apollo’s law enforcement training
My experience and training have given me a huge advantage in teaching above and beyond the basics of driver education to include in-depth knowledge of traffic law, driving techniques to include Mental Visualization Training and vehicle dynamics.
I am passionate about teaching driver education since I know how important it is for teens to have as much information and the best training possible. It’s not just about learning to operate a vehicle, but to teach lifetime skills to avoid being killed or killing another person or persons.
As a trooper, I handled approximately two thousand traffic crashes which included many fatal crashes. Over the years when teaching the first day of class, I would tell my students that I have seen teens cut in half and their insides spread across someone’s front lawn, bodies burned and mangled beyond recognition and decapitation. Now that I have their attention, I asked them, “Do you know what the worse part of my job was?” (complete silence thinking what can be worse than that). I would tell them, the worst part of my job was going to a house and telling the parent or spouse that their son or daughter and/or their husband or wife has been killed in a crash. They will never forget that day and the words “I regret to inform you…."
My Goals
-
To pass on as much of my training and life experiences as I can to my students.
-
Is for any parent or family member of any student of mine to never hear the words from and officer
“I regret to inform you”.
